Educational Technology Standards
Created by David Brannan
The following technology competencies and associated skills are designed to help teachers integrate student computer skills into the curriculum for grades K-10, with the goal of graduating students who are competent and comfortable users of technology.
A ten-level certification process was carefully designed to articulate developmentally appropriate skills in the areas of word processing and page layout, database, spreadsheets, e-mail, drawing and painting, computer operations, World Wide Web, keyboarding, and multi-media presentations.
Teacher Use
Student Skills in Technology Forms are provided via Adobe Acrobat Reader to teachers interested in monitoring/tracking technology skills attained by their students.
Completed or partially completed forms should be stored in student's cumulative files to ensure skills and certifications follow them throughout their education.
These competencies and skills are intended for grades K-10 and are designed to parallel, yet remain grade level independent. For example: a student in grade one who certifies in level one skills should be encouraged towards attaining level two or higher certification.
